Megan #4
Client explores fawning patterns, low self-worth, reclaimed agency, & inner resources in this demo session with Dr. Heller.
This session is the fourth in a five-part NARM demonstration series. In this fourth session, Megan explores her long-standing patterns of "fawning"—a survival strategy where she suppresses her own needs to prioritize others' approval and to avoid conflict. She reflects on how this people-pleasing behavior, rooted in childhood trauma that involved emotional and physical abuse, has led to chronic anxiety, disconnection, and a diminished sense of self-worth. Through the session, Megan begins to uncover how these current symptoms were once adaptive responses to unsafe environments.
Supported by Dr. Heller, Megan begins to shift her perspective, recognizing that her survival strategies were not personal failings but necessary patterns to cope with an untenable environment. As she deepens her understanding of the emotional roots beneath her patterns, Megan experiences growing self-compassion and a sense of agency.
